Advocacy Alert: Wounded Warriors and Caregivers need your HELP Today!

YOUR ACTION IS NECESSARY FOR SENATE TO PASS A STRONG BILL TO HELP OUR MOST SEVERELY WOUNDED WARRIORS AND THEIR FAMILIES

caregiver-capital-photo.gifWounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) top priority is getting desperately needed legislation passed by Congress to provide critical support to family caregivers of severely wounded warriors including those with catastrophic injuries such as severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Spinal Cord Injury, and others.

Over the past 4 years, WWP has listened to the needs and concerns directly from family caregivers of critically injured service members from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Respite care, mental health counseling, technical assistance, health care coverage and a modest stipend, can make the difference between a warrior being able to receive the care and services they need in their own homes and communities rather than in institutional or nursing home settings.

A bi-partisan bill, (S.801) is currently awaiting action in the United States Senate. This bill acknowledges and fully supports the vital role of the family caregiver for the warrior’s well-being and will provide long –term support and services for our severely wounded warriors and their family caregivers.

With your help, progress has been made but more is needed. To date, 24 Senators co-sponsored this legislation – we need the support of your U.S. Senator, Tom Coburn. This country owes it to our service members to take care of those who care for them.

You have the opportunity to help and make a life changing impact on our wounded warriors and their families.

ACTION NEEDED:

Contact your Senators NOW to let them know how strongly you support the Caregiver and Veterans Health Services Act of 2009 (S. 801) and its supports and stipend for family caregivers.

To do so, please call the US Capitol Switchboard, at 202-224-3121, and ask to speak with the Senator from your state. You can also use or adapt the text of a sample letter on our website at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/caregivers

Please call immediately and encourage others to do the same. Your grassroots action can make the difference!

This Pin-up was created by Jose Negron for the Untold Stories From Iraq & Afghanistan Graphic Novel.

Bio:
Jose Ivan Negron AKA Bad Attitude Ink is a cartoonist, currently living in Brooklyn, N.Y with his lovely wife, Rebecca and their cat, Shmucky. Jose has been drawing since he could pick up a pencil ( hey, no one said he drew good at that age, he was just drawing then , that's all )and hasn't stopped since. Except to indulge his addiction to video games.

He studied art at The High School Of Art And Design, in N.Y.C and graduated ultimately from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, having won the Mark Rothko Art Scholarship that year, one of only ten students in NYC high schools to receive the scholarship yearly. He also took classes at the School Of Visual Arts and Parsons School Of Design on weekends and summer vacations. Yes....his friends did think he was nuts for going to school in the summer and on weekends. They quickly forgave him when they learned he got to draw naked girls in his life drawing classes.

He now does work under the moniker Bad Attitude ink and his work can be found at his online gallery: [link] "

My latest Project

Hey everyone ,I thought I would share with you my latest project,It really has nothing to do with the Graphic Novel ,except that one of the soldiers (1SGT CJ Grisham)who has contributed a story for the Graphic Novel approaced me about creating a fresh new logo for his unit. As he feels the old one is outdated. So I thought I would share that art with you all. I will show the old logo and the newley created one.It was fun to do.
